Brief Description

The aim of this final major production module is for the students to apply the skills and knowledge they have gained during their studies and, in so doing, to create a final year practical portfolio. Students will first choose a role in which to hone their specialist skills (e.g. directing, editing, production management) and then in these roles within small groups, pursue their own creative direction, with outcomes agreed and moderated by the tutor.

Indicative Syllabus

Each student will write a proposal or treatment for a short TV programme (fact or fiction; single or multicamera). Following a pitching and selection process of these proposals, students will form production teams and develop each selected proposal/treatment from working script to finished programme. During the pre- production stage-(research, scriptwriting and planning/scheduling) – there will be small group tutorials, task specific seminars (e.g. studio lighting) and some formal lectures thus ensuring that the students are well prepared and have had ample opportunity to seek solutions to problems and queries prior to filming. During the production stage, both the shoot and the edit, the groups will be expected to work professionally at all times
