Brief Description

This is the second of two Level III advanced production modules. Students will devote the whole semester to honing specialist skills applying relevant theory/production skills in a chosen area (directing, producing, cinematography, lighting and set design, audio design or editing). By the end of the semester, all students will have contributed towards the production of a single piece of portfolio quality Digital Film Production.

Indicative Syllabus

From a presentation pitch and selection process, students will form production teams and develop a working script, focussing all areas of production towards the completion of a short film by the end of the first semester. The first half of the module will concentrate on pre-production development where students will dedicate themselves to a balance of theory research and shoot/edit practice relevant to the selected film project. A film project mentor will be allocated to each group, formal seminars allowing all the necessary discussion opportunities regarding all relevant technical, aesthetic and logistic needs. In the second half of the module groups will work as professional crews on location and on campus focussing purely on the shoot and edit process. All films will be screened at a critique held in the last week of the semester. Quality finished work will be selected and put forward for competition and regional/national film festivals.
