Brief Description | This module will draw together the various aims of the course into a major final year project that is book-ended by an event. Here, students will oversee a film project (e.g. an exhibition, screening event, festival event, film marketing campaign) from inception, through project planning, cycles of marketing, promotion and PR, budgeting, issues relating to intellectual property rights, and execution of the project/event. The nature of the project/event is negotiable, but an approved proposal needs to be agreed with the module tutor. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will draw on the students' project management skills and their ability work across a range of professional contexts. It will focus attention on formulating, planning, managing, promoting and presenting a finished project. As a result, students will be expected to take roles in planning the event and work to tight deadlines through the year to ensure completion of the project. Students will work individually in designated roles and in a wider project group. The nature of the project will be negotiated and students will need to justify their proposal to tutors. Dependent on the project, students will need to work with relevant intermediaries or partners throughout, both internal and external (e.g. University press office, screening venues, festivals, film touring package offers). |
