Brief Description

This module allows students to explore a chosen area or areas of the creative media industries in more depth in a project that will deploy skills acquired from MD4501 and MD5501

Indicative Syllabus

Building on the knowledge gained in MD4501 and MD5501, this module allows students the flexibility to define and direct their own creative media project. This can involve any one or more of the media they have studied up to now. With a proposal, agreed with the tutor, students will decide on the focus and will be involved in all aspects leading to its successful completion which will be pitched to an outside stakeholder.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

1. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the variety of manifestations of the media and creative industries in the UK and beyond with awareness of organizational structures, roles and processes

2. Manifest an ability to market their personal, entrepreneurial and industrial skills to a potential employer or host.

3. Organise a major project coherently and present persuasive conclusions

4. Demonstrate clarity in design and navigation of the project and the digital technologies involved

5. Demonstrate advanced kills in research, analysis and criticism

6. Evaluate how new developments within the industry are likely to impact on their existing skills and identify areas for development
