Brief Description | This module offers an opportunity to carry out a major journalism assignment. Students will take part in a series of lectures, workshops and editorial meetings to prepare for the assignment which brings together the editorial, technical and production skills developed throughout the course. The project will be suitable for publication or transmission on TV, radio, on-line, newspapers or magazines, or a combination of any of these. |
Indicative Syllabus | Students are required to initiate, research and produce an original practical project such as an in-depth news or feature story, documentary, or publication. Initial sessions will concentrate on how to find and develop a story. Students will have to ‘pitch’ their chosen idea to editorial meetings, in line with industry practice, before submitting a written proposal. Risk assessment, compliance and time management issues must be considered at this stage. The nature and substance of the final report must be agreed with the tutor before. |
