Brief Description

In this module, working in small groups and using the skills and knowledge acquired in TVP105, students will write, develop and produce an original 10 minute TV Drama within the conventions of a specific genre e.g. Crime. The genre selected is to be decided by the tutor.

Indicative Syllabus

All students will be invited to pitch a treatment from a script within the set genre which will then be voted on/chosen by the class. In small groups the students will then develop, research, and produce an original 10 minute drama from these scripts. Groups will shoot and edit their programmes using the skills acquired in TVP105 with the added requirement of working within and therefore showing an understanding of a specific genre such as Crime.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an increasing understanding of the conventions that cover TV Drama
  2. Explain in depth and also apply the key processes involved in single camera, drama production
  3. Produce all necessary story boards/scripts prior to shooting
  4. Fully observe all the health and safety requirements that a single camera shoot entails
  5. Shooting and editing dramatic sequences
  6. Producing master scripts, competent storyboards, shooting and editing scripts
  7. Single camera filming and editing production
