Brief Description | This module will consolidate and extend radio production skills developed at level 4 with the production of a radio magazine programme. |
Indicative Syllabus | Following an introduction to the defining characteristics of the magazine genre you will be set a series of short weekly research, writing and practical production exercises. Weekly feedback and action planning will inform the design of the subsequent formative assignments. You will learn the techniques of production management required for this demanding, content-rich, form of speech radio. You will research, devise and write a detailed outline proposal for an original magazine programme. The module will culminate in a group production of a magazine programme. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to:
1) Evidence a comprehensive understanding of the radio magazine format 2) Produce original material within the format that reflects audience interests in both treatment and content 3) Identify the role of the radio magazine as active agent within the wider social context 4) Employ effective production management techniques 5) Prodduce programme material to a high technical standard 6) Have developed an informed and critical response to work |
