Brief Description

This module enables the students to build on knowledge and experience gained in the level 4 module, working individually to develop and record a marketable product with a band, "artist" or film maker. The students will create a marketing package for this product and organise the recording and editing of a live performance by the band, artist, or film-maker.

Indicative Syllabus

Students will be encouraged to further develop the theoretical and practical management skills in key areas of music and video production and recording, that they were introduced to in  level 4 modules. Industry areas covered include: sound and video production, studio management and organisation, events and events management, promotional skills and artist management

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to

1.     Demonstrate understanding of the management of crew roles and responsibilities

2.     Devise and evaluate a high quality music/media product.

3.     Critically asses an individual/band/artist/group in order to produce a product to help them progress within the world of music/media.

4.     Critically evaluate the product.

5.     Develop and manage a music/video project from conception through to completion and potential distribution.

6.     Demonstrate an ability to work with clients professionally and on time.
