Brief Description

This module will introduce students to both the processes and technical skills involved in single camera (location) shoots and editing of factual television. Working in small groups the students will move from simple exercises both in camera work (eg. Shooting a given script for a 30" advertisement) and editing (eg. Cutting the rushes from a short factual insert), to producing firstly a 2' insert for a factual programme and finally a 5' short programme, both of the latter from ideas originated by the groups.

Indicative Syllabus

Using DV cameras and Final Cut Pro edit suites; this module will allow students to gain a sound knowledge of all aspects of single camera production that will feed in to later modules. Within their groups they will take on all the necessary roles and thus build a commitment to the production and to each other.
