Brief Description

This module aims to provide a foundation to students for understanding management in the media and music industries and introduces them to the main themes explored throughout the course (for example, globalization, the legal and regulatory environment, ethics and corporate social responsibility and the management of change).

It explores the implications of key external and internal issues and provides students with an understanding of the breadth of issues across the industry; for example, looking at the similarities and differences between different organizational structures and cultures (corporate, entrepreneurial, voluntary and public service organizations).

Industry specific understanding is built on a solid appreciation of general management and business theory. The module therefore provides an overview of marketing, financial accounting, product and project management, and human resource issues (including entrepreneurialism and leadership) within the context of the rapidly moving media and music environment with a particular focus on the management of creativity.
