Brief Description | Following consultation with an advisor, students research an approved media-related topic and prepare a dissertation of 8,000 words. Advisory sessions with an appropriate tutor are organised at regular intervals during the module and students are required to show clear evidence of wide critical reading and a theoretical approach. |

Learning Outcomes | i. Knowledge and Understanding At the end of this double module students should be able to demonstrate that they have: a) a sophisticated and extensive understanding of a subject related to the media. b) clear understanding of the theoretical approaches appropriate to the subject and the ability to illustrate such concepts with textual examples. c) an appreciation of the need for a clear and effective structure to their subject which reveals an ability to offer both a general overview and close textual analysis ii. Skills There will be a strong emphasis on research and organisational skills, writing skills, particularly those concerned with structuring a substantial piece of work, will be highlighted. |
