Brief Description

This module focuses on the development of a website and includes research, idea generation, visualisation, information architecture decisions, prototype production and testing. Principles of graphic design such as layout, typography, use of colour, and visual hierarchy are introduced, in order to ensure the production of a simple, useable application. The process of designing for print and designing for online use is compared during the module.

Students will be expected to work in groups of two or three in the design and production of a prototype Web Site. Web design and digital imaging software will be used and consideration given to the variety of ways in which a site can be built. A record of the development of the site will be presented in a folder, demonstrating research, planning and visualisation. An evaluation report on the completed project is also required.
