Brief Description | This module provides students with an opportunity to conduct a piece of literature based research in a legal context |
Indicative Syllabus | Students will select a title from a range that will be made available; the titles will provide scope for students to independently research, evaluate competing arguments and from a critical judgement on current legal topics. Alternatively, students may agree their own title, which meets these criteria, with the module tutor. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to: 1. demonstrate a comprehensive and accurate knowledge and understanding of the law in relation to the title selected; 2. form a critical judgement on areas of controversy within the topics studied, evaluate competing arguments and make reasoned judgements; 3. demonstrate comprehensive and accurate knowledge and understanding of any social, economic and political policy considerations relevant to the title selected; 4.identify sources for research and further develop a strategy for independent research using standard and electronic research tools; 5. critically analyse, interpret, evaluate and synthesise information from a variety of sources; 6. write fluent and complex prose accurately, using legal terminology correctly. |
