Brief Description | This module examines the operational challenges and management of leisure and visitor attractions, from design to service delivery and operations. It will enable students to understand how the venue and attractions manager meets the expectations of operators, users and other stakeholders through sound planning, design and operations. |
Indicative Syllabus | The module considers how the planning and design of leisure attractions contribute to meeting the high standards of service delivery, safety, innovation and technical operation required. Operational challenges relating to a variety of types of attraction will be examined such as legal requirements and quality standards, different approaches to interpretation, visitor management, and the management of seasonal and volunteer staff. The importance and application of technology to attractions in their various forms are examined, including their contribution to sustainable management practices. |
