Brief Description

This module will focus on strategic management accounting. It will address the importance of financial information to managers and it is link with business strategy as well as competiveness. Students will also develop their strategic ability to: apply financial techniques; analyse financial information and evaluate company financial statements

Indicative Syllabus

The range of topic will include: developing financial strategic models, intercompany comparisons; performance measurement; investment appraisal; analysing financial statements. Other areas will develop on include the synergy of human resource, operation and marketing management through strategically interpreting and evaluating financial and non-financial information

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module students should be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate the use and limitations of internal and published financial reports;
  2. Identify and evaluate the relationship between financial analysis and the management roles of planning, controlling and performance measurement;
  3. Apply selected techniques and evaluate current issues relevant to strategic management accounting.
  4. Develop their key skills in the application of numerical techniques and ICT to the demonstration of competence in analysis of financial reports
