Brief Description

In this module students will be encouraged to break through personal barriers in singing performance, choosing songs that present an individual,appropriate challenge, then developing and rehearsing them for performance.

Indicative Syllabus

Students will choose a solo singing piece with their tutors which will challenge them. They will then work independently and with support to rehearse and develop their piece to performance standard.  The performance will also include small group numbers and large group numbers.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate sound vocal technique
  2. Engage intelligently with the key components of performance and the processes by which it is created and realised.
  3. Engage actively with the skills and processes of production, design and rehearsal by which a performance is created, and have an ability to select, refine and present these in performance.
  4. Understand the theory and practice of the audience-performer relationship.
