Brief Description

In this module students will study various styles of dance, including weekly classes in ballet, tap, contemporary and jazz.

Indicative Syllabus

Students will have weekly studio practice classes in ballet, contemporary, jazz and tap. They will continue to develop technique as well as an understanding of safe practice and appropriate warming up and cooling down exercises. Alongside this they will carry out their own independent research of a dance practitioner.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. Engage in an understanding of how to use the body safely whilst executing a broad range of dance movement vocabularies and styles.
  2. Exercise initiative, safe dance practice and personal responsibility, operating as an independent and reflective learner.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of correct dance technique, safe practice and warm up and cool down exercises.
