Brief Description

The module aims to study the principles and practices used in the management of financial and human resources applied to the leisure industries. Emphasis of study is on how operational human resource and financial issues influence management decision-making.

Indicative Syllabus

This module is a key Level 5 module for management subjects in the school of leisure. The two main themes are a synergy of people and financial resources. Key areas covered are the use of internal and external information sources, performance appraisals, to make recruitment and selection, training and development decisions.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. Understand and discuss the scope of human resource and financial management in relation to the leisure industries and other management functions;
  2. Explain, analyse and defend the principles and procedures normally associated with key human resource and financial management practices;
  3. Evaluate the appropriateness of different management accounting and human resource management techniques;
  4. Apply key finance and human resource principles and practices to the work environment.
