Brief Description | This module introduces key concepts and models associated with reflective learning and considers the increasing recognition and value given to learning in real world contexts. Students will explore analytical approaches that support the connection of work practices and experiences with appropriate underpinning theory as they progress throughout the Level 4 modules. |
Indicative Syllabus | The module will cover the following themes: an introduction to 'learning'; the relationship between theory, experience and learning; concepts and models of workplace learning; tacit and explicit knowledge; the importance of reflective practice in professional learning and development; methods and conditions to support reflective practice; representational modes for supporting reflection; the value of supervision and mentoring roles in supporting reflective practice; developing and maintaining a reflective journal; using work experiences to support learning. |
