Brief Description

In this module students will analyse a text in depth, developing and applying acting methodology through an intensive rehearsal process to performance in a theatre.

Indicative Syllabus

Students will apply their acting skills working as an acting company on a complete play. They will work cooperatively in the rehearsal process with the director applying and develop their performance skills.They will understand theatre production values regarding set design, costume and the technical requirements of working to deadlines in a professional theatre context.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. Engage intelligently with the key components of classical performance and the processes by which it is created and realised.
  2. Analyse current practices in theatre, dance and singing whilst recognising its historical antecedent
  3. Engage creatively with the production of performance through a developing understanding of appropriate performance vocabularies, techniques and working methods.
  4. Understand the theory and practice of the audience – performer relationship
  5. Work effectively with theatre professionals and others in a range of situations and contexts.
