Brief Description

This module will introduce the key operational skills behind TRM, HPM and LSM disciplines. The module covers the principles behind Customer Care. Student will then, dependent upon availability and numbers, choose from a number of skill options offered by the Course, which may include: Introduction to Wine and Spirits, Risk Assessment as well as Training skills.

Indicative Syllabus

The module offers a fundamental approach to the principles behind Customer Care. Included are understanding the customer, delivering service excellence, communicating successfully and dealing with difficult satiations.Through the elective option the student will be given the option to develop an appreciation of wine and spirits, understanding the principles behind risk assessment or to be able to effectively conduct on the job training.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module students should be able to demonstrate:

  1. Identify how customer care skills are important within the hospitality and tourism industry.
  2. Greater appreciation of the relationship between transferable skill acquisition and future employability.
  3. Identify personal development planning.
  4. Apply a range of skills, including: written and oral and visual presentation skills, use ICT skills to access and present relevant data and evidence and effectively plan and manage the independent learning experience
