Brief Description | This module will introduce the key principles behind hotel and resort management. It will explore the complexities and the unique nature of the hotel and resort industries. |
Indicative Syllabus | The module offers a fundamental approach to the operations of hotel and resort properties. Topics covered include: customer service, provision of food and beverage, spa, gaming and recreational activities, guest reception, accommodation services, security, control, facilities planning & maintenance and sustainability. |
Learning Outcomes | On completion of this module students should be able to: Recognise the differences and similarities between the two sectors. Evaluate the roles of those involved in the service encounter. Understand the complexities surrounding managing this form of business. Explain the basic requirements for managing communications betweendepartments of a typical hotel or resort location. Appreciate the type of skills and the work carried out in different departments. Apply a range of skills, including: written and oral and visual presentation skills, use ICT skills to access and present relevant data and evidence and effectively plan and manage the independent learning experience. |
