Brief Description | This module will introduce students to some important themes and issues surrounding the illustration profession. The history of illustration with a specific emphasis on the evolution of the professional practise of the illustrator. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will examine contemporary debates, themes and issues relating to the illustration professions including; Illustrator as author, designer and producer; ethics and social responsibility; propaganda and protest; global design; hand-made and beyond digital design. Students will be required to analyse and discuss a variety of visual representations using a range of methodologies including semiology, ideology, and gender with a specific emphasis on the evolution of the professional practise of the illustrator. |
