Brief Description | This module addresses issues essential to the effective management facilities within hotels and other associated venues. The module has a facilities management orientation and focuses on design, planning, resourcing, operation and management from this perspective. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will address contemporary management issues within hospitality services from a facilities management perspective. It evaluates principles of facilities design and management and relevant management techniques commonly adopted in the hospitality business. The following core principles will be discussed: factors impacting on facilities design and capacity planning including legal, marketing, operational, financial, environmental, safety and security aspects; the use of IC technology for property management and profit maximisation; concept development and project planning; the measurement of facilities performance; outsourcing; property valuation and asset management. |
