Indicative Syllabus

Students will gain an appreciation to a range of debates about gender and language – from traditional discourses still found in our society that promote gender hierarchies to more recently emerging discourses that resist and challenge traditional notions of gender as a fixed binary male/female distinction. Students will explore a range of both written and spoken discourses such as advertisements, fiction, magazines and the broadcast media.
