Brief Description

This module is designed to offer students the opportunity to experience an extended visit in the company of other students and relevant staff to a city or area of historic significance in the study of the humanities.

Indicative Syllabus

The module will comprise the following: Students will undertake preliminary research that introduces the location to be visited and its historical, cultural and intellectual significance. Students will be provided with a course booklet that gives reading and preliminary study material on all the places visited. A University VLE site will be developed to support this preliminary research.

 

The content of the study visit will be determined by the location.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

 

  1. Articulate their experience of visiting monuments and locations in a way which demonstrates their learning.

 

  1. Be able to identify, analyse and communicate the manner in which sites visited are represented by those who have stewardship of them.

 

  1. Possesses a range of ICT skills in order to gather, evaluate and synthesise different types of information
