Brief Description This module involves students undertaking work experience in a health care, social care or community setting which will advance their skills in practice. Students will either organise their own placement, or will be provided with one, and may be either a paid member of staff or a volunteer. Students will need to establish a learning agreement which defines their learning needs, their intended learning outcomes, time scales and necessary learning support, all in consultation with a workplace supervisor and the module tutor.
Indicative Syllabus This module has been designed to enable students to further develop their knowledge base and practice skills within a community, health or social care setting. It will enable students to deepen and broaden their experience and thus develop their skills as reflective practitioners.
Learning Outcomes

i. Knowledge and Understanding
On successful completion of the module the students should be able to:
a) Critically reflect upon their practice within the care sector;
b) Apply knowledge derived from other level 1 and 2 HH modules and key skills such that their own practice is enhanced.



ii. Skills
On successful completion of the module the students should be able to:
a) Self-analyse developmental strengths and needs;
b) Develop and demonstrate workplace skill;
c) Show accountability and take responsibility for own actions within the boundaries of the learning agreement;
d) Practise reflectively.

Learning and Teaching Activities

Staff student contact circa 10% (to include: lectures, phone contact, visit)
Student independent study circa 90% (to include: time on placement)

002: 10% Coursework: Standard: 500 words or equivalent
