Brief Description | As a Graphic Designer the design portfolio is an extension of ones personality. It can reveal a lot about the designer as a person, it can reflect their skills and knowledge base and it can also reveal the type of designer he/she may be at the time of presentation of their self-initiated design projects. This module aims to encourage students to undertake an extensive range of practical projects that will form the major part of their final portfolio. They will carefully consider the design the and presentation of their work, and to build confidence to discuss their work in a professional manner. |
Indicative Syllabus | The module aims to discuss and develop the form, structure and production of their graphic design portfolio. Through a system of tutorials, students will be asked to identify their own strengths as a graphic designer and explore, compare and contrast their practical work with contemporary and historic examples of excellent practice. All students will be required to take part in a series of critiques that will allow for discussion and the exploration of a range of design approaches. |
