Brief Description | This module explores experimental practice. In particular it will examine the way in which creative practice, experimental and innovative work gets incorporated into mainstream practice. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will explore and evaluate a range of theories and perspectives related to the study of innovation in visual culture. Taking the work of key practitioners from across a whole range of disciplines it will think about the nature of creative practice, how they work, what they produce and how this work impacts on traditional practice and dominant ideas and its relationship to the mainstream working environment and marketplace. |
Learning Outcomes | i. Knowledge and Understanding On successful completion of the module the student should: a) have developed an understanding of creative practice and its relationship to the mainstream b) be able to analyse and evaluate a range of theoretical texts and approaches to studying visual culture c) recognise and be able to demonstrate the interconnected relationship between theory and practice ii. Skills a) an ability to make theoretical decisions about practice choices b) an ability to work autonomously and with others in a team c) research skills, both primary and secondary d) written/oral communication and presentation skills |
