Brief Description | A mainly practical investigation of the techniques, applications and potential of geographic information systems and satellite image processing. |
Indicative Syllabus | The module aims to impart the principles of GIS data gathering, manipulation and output, and to develop an understanding of the principles associated with the acquisition, presentation and interpretation of remotely sensed data. The module will focus on the application of these techniques using three systems: Idrisi, ArcView and Erdas. The module is valuable to all students with an interest in spatial analysis and modelling, resource allocation and environmental management. |
