Brief Description This double module addresses the establishment of a framework for personal practice within the subject area. Students undertakepractical and contextual research to define and evaluate core issues central to their individual practice, with particular reference to content and process.
Indicative Syllabus Students define the practical, experimental and theoretical contexts of their work, and establish a sustainable working procedure, appropriate study agreement and tutorials.
Learning Outcomes

i. Knowledge and Understanding

At the end of the module students will be expected to have knowledge and understanding of:
a) the specific references and models of practice appropriate to their development of resolved and innovative studio work
b) effective working procedures
c) the individual identification and development of appropriate and specific languages and methodologies
d) the necessity of an informed position on contemporary and historical fine art practice.

i) Skills

At the end of the module students will be expected to have skills in:
a) the development of a personal fine art practice within painting and drawing at an advanced level
b) technical, critical, imaginative and self-managementissues pertinent to their own practice
c) the research and development of an informed rationale for the direction of their own practice
d) the documentation of studio-work, including research material
e) safety and responsibility of working practices in the studio
f) the refinement and application of critical and contextualising skills to their own practice
g) the negotiation of an informed personal position on contemporary and antecedent fine art practice.
