Brief Description

The module aims to develop key skills relating to reviewing and analysing evidence and writing a review of current literature.

Indicative Syllabus

The module will cover the following topics:

  • searching for contemporary and/or historical literature;
  • critical analysis of different sources;
  • organising, analysing and synthesizing information to present an overview of the subject;
  • enhancement of student's role as senior practitioner within the setting by dissemination of their work.
Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. Articulate an informed position on a specific aspect of early years practice;
  2. Extract appropriate information from information sources and understand its relative importance;
  3. Understand the process involved in writing a literature review which include a critical analysis of literature;
  4. Relate literature to current policy , statutory and non-statutory guidance;
  5. Communicate how the review informs the student' particular professional practice;
  6. Lead and support others through knowledge transfer.
