Brief Description Contemporary issues in events management covers many aspects of the event industry. The focus is on current, up-to-date issues and modern management practices within the industry. Students are given the opportunity to critically evaluate contemporary issues. By the end of the module students will be able to express qualified opinions on many contemporary issues, in addition to evaluating the implications for the event industry.
Indicative Syllabus Due to the contemporary nature of this module students will be offered guidance on this module in the first weeks of the semester, after which they will study, in depth, a current contemporary issue. The focus of this module will be on self directed study with guidance in the form of tutorials.
Learning Outcomes

i  Knowledge and understanding
On completion of this module students should be able to:
a) Identify and critically evaluate contemporary issues
b) Express qualified opinions and question traditional approaches within the industry
c) Synthesise new ideas and evaluate implications for the hospitality industry

Students will be given the opportunity to develop their key skills in the following areas during the course of this module: Area 2: Communication and literacy
