Brief Description | This module addresses management as an integrating activity within the service sector. Studies will seek to inform students understanding of the history of management thinking and its place in the current fast-paced business market place. It will enable students to develop a deeper understanding of the management of organisations, teams and people. It addresses socio-cultural and psychological issues relevant to large organisations and SME's, within the service sector. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will investigate three distinct sections of management theory: the meaning of management within the service sector, managing service sector organisations, and managing teams and individuals. Topics that will be covered include: The development of modern management within the service sector; organisational structure; management of change; organisational goals & business ethics; leadership; group theory and motivation. |
