Brief Description

This module aims to enable students to work with complexity in the workplace and to be accountable for their own actions. It requires students to demonstrate skills and knowledge in relation to complex work tasks. Students may be employed on a paid or voluntary basis, or may be on a placement, and should receive workplace mentoring or supervision. Continued PDP support will be included by tutors alongside the module and this will include careers input and CV refinement.

Indicative Syllabus

The module will cover the following topics:

 

methods of dealing with complexity of service user(s) needs in the workplace;

methods of promoting communication within and between agencies and with service users;

methods of working with colleagues and external agencies through team and partnership working to the benefit of the service user(s);

continued professionalism in relation to appropriate work role;

reflection on learning from current practice and so begin to develop practice wisdom.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:...

 

1. Reflect on learning from current practice and from the application of theoretical concepts;

2. Demonstrate initiative in relation to demands of a particular work role or activity;

3. Apply methods of working with the complex  issues raised by service user(s) or a group or service user(s) making explicit use of the evidence base;

4. Demonstrate competence and professionalism in relation to agreed work role and task;

5. Review and implement further elements of the action plan contained within the Negotiated Learning Agreement and track progress against PDP;

6. Use and develop systems that promote communication.
