Brief Description | This module explores recent government initiatives and local agenda setting in relation to working with families in a range of contexts to enhance learning and development. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will cover the following topics:
effective communication and engagement with children, young people and their families; outcomes 1, 3 and 6 of the Common Core of skills and Knowledge for the Children and Young People’s Workforce; the impact of diversity.

Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to:
1. Engage with emerging research and theories relating to families and their structure; 2. Be aware of legislation and regulations, including the relation to equality and diversity; 3. Be aware of the wider context of services; 4. Discuss principles and practice of working in partnership, especially in relation to safeguarding; 5. Communicate sensitively with a range of others; 6. Apply safeguarding, information sharing and risk management processes. |
