Brief Description | The aim of this module is to enable the student to undertake a small scale work based research project on a topic of interest, chosen from within their field of study. This module enables students to demonstrate their ability to undertake an individual investigative project with direct relevance to their professional practice. The module forms the culmination to the field of study, and may be developed from any or all of the previous modules. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will cover the following topics:
collaboratively negotiated research into a topic of professional interest, which addresses issues in the field of study; project implementation, applying theories and principles integrated from modules studied on the programme; consolidation and extension of knowledge; strengthening of intellectual, professional and key skills; development of understanding of issues studied throughout the field of study strengthening of the awareness of the impact of issues of equality and diversity. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to:
1. Identify a relevant topic to their field; 2. Demonstrate problem solving, research and investigative skills; 3. Demonstrate the ability to select, understand, analyse and evaluate information on the chosen topic; 4. Apply academic knowledge and recognise its relevance in their employment context; 5. Develop communication and literacy skills; 6. Develop independent learning and working skills. |
