Brief Description

This module aims to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the principles underpinning the development of effective inclusive practice to promote development and well-being undertaken by staff in a range of settings and explores the nature of multi-agency working (5 of the Common Core of Skills and Knowledge for the Children and Young People’s Workforce). Students with HLTA Status may claim APL for this module of 15 CATS.

Indicative Syllabus

This module will cover the following topics:

 

the principles underpinning the development of effective practice undertaken by staff in a range of educational settings;

positive values, attitudes and behaviours expected of staff, including those in response to issues of equality and diversity;

building constructive relationships individuals and groups;

expected roles with regard to relationships both within their setting and with other members of the workforce;

collaborative and co-operative working, especially in relation to safeguarding;

ethics, data protection and health and safety issues.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

 

1. Understand the principles of inclusive education and their role and responsibility within this;

2. Know about legislation and regulations for equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice and safeguarding;

3. Work effectively with others and recognise the factors which affect team performance;

4. Demonstrate awareness of ethical issues and discuss these in relation to personal beliefs and values;

5. Communicate effectively with other professionals to promote learning and well-being;

6. Develop collaborative and group working skills with a range of other adults.
