Brief Description | This module explores educational achievement through a critical examination of what constitutes measurement within education. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module engages students in a critical examination of current legislation, guidance and research on the educational achievement of children at the end of the early years foundation stage, and within key stage 1 and key stage 2. Examination of the difference between attainment and achievement underpins the student’s critical analysis of various intervention and assessment strategies. Society’s values are scrutinized as determinants of policy change; in addition OFSTEDs role in influencing these values and belief systems is debated. |
