Brief Description

The module explores current methods of multimedia web production including the project management and business skills necessary to provide a secure commercial environment within which to develop applications. It examines the implications of different philosophical and ethical approaches on the conduct of Project Managers in this area in addition to exploring the possible effects of different legal and cultural contexts.

Indicative Syllabus

The module covers the philosophical paradigms underpinning the ethical and legal frameworks within which web-based Project Managers operate, the changing nature of working practices in the creative multimedia web industry, including prospects for entrepreneurial activity.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. critically evaluate alternative perspectives on the appropriateness of the application of multimedia web applications in different situations,
  2. research, consolidate and present a large amount of information about multimedia web applications and organisations’ use of these and be able to make recommendations suitable for senior decision makers,
  3. propose and defend innovative solutions to information management problems which involve multimedia,
  4. critically evaluate web and other digital applications with respect to the ethical, legal, cultural and social aspects of the situation,
  5. critically evaluate leading edge developments in multimedia web applications, presenting the research using Harvard referencing.
  6. understand and apply key project management techniques tailored for the creative web design and game industries.
