Brief Description

Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team employed to design, produce, test and document a substantial software product

Indicative Syllabus

The module enables students to work to a client brief to apply and integrate software development methods. Students work in a multidisciplinary team to investigate client requirements, design, implement, test and document a software product suitable for their field. The final version is presented to the client and staff.

Learning Outcomes

A student passing this module should be able to:

  1. Consolidate knowledge of tools and techniques employed to produce software applications,
  2. Critically evaluate their project management techniques,
  3. Propose and defend innovative solutions to a client brief,
  4.  Analyse the market for a software product and evaluate the financial viability of undertaking a given production,
  5. Design and evaluate functional and usability test procedures,
  6. Critically reflect upon their own and others' contribution to a group production.
