Brief Description | This module aims to give students an understanding of Business Intelligence requirements and appreciation of the issues concerned with developing and managing corporate Business Intelligence systems. The module will introduce the theories, concepts, strategies and policies needed to transform an organization’s data into actionable knowledge. |
Indicative Syllabus | Business Intelligence is a priority for modern companies. Business Intelligence is the use of information technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing and presenting data to help business managers make better decisions and formulate their business strategies. This module looks at the use of Business Intelligence, as well as its tools, techniques, strategies and principles. The focus is on providing students with the skills and knowledge to enable them to suggest, model, develop, implement and manage effective Business Intelligence solutions. Students will gain an understanding the latest enterprise decision support tools and techniques, as well as an appreciation of current theories and trends in Business Intelligence provision. Topics will include: business intelligence concepts; the business intelligence environment; data mining; analysis and modeling techniques; data warehousing; information integration; and business intelligence strategy and management. |
