Brief Description | This module introduces the use of software packages in the context of solving business problems and information needs. It will include coverage of databases with an emphasis on spreadsheets and data analysis. The module is a foundation module in Business Information Technology and would be relevant to any student wishing to acquire some practical IT skills to support business. An understanding of basic mathematics including algebraic formulae would be beneficial. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module is concerned primarily with the acquisition of skills to use current application software to enable use as real business tools in the workplace. A range of software applications is possible including word processing, presentation, database and spreadsheet applications. There will be an emphasis on spreadsheets and their application to data analysis and presentation together with the theory of descriptive statistics to support this. |
