Brief Description | The module aims: to extend students' knowledge and understanding of their role within a professional team, and in promoting inclusive practice. This is supported by placement experience. In addition this module will continue to further students' academic capabilities to support progression into Level 5. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will cover the following topics:
examination of team theory and roles within professional teams; inclusive practice; structures of discrimination such as 'race', class, gender, disability, culture and religion as they relate to children's care, education and wellbeing, and examination of current legislation and guidance; strategies to promote inclusive practice; career and CV advice. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to:...
1. Demonstrate enhanced professional skills through developed interpersonal skills; 2. Examine the principles and practice of team theory and effective leadership and apply this to their work in settings; and within their study; 3. Understand, apply and evaluate current legislation relating to inclusion 4. Analyse inclusive practice and adopt appropriate strategies to promote inclusion for all children; 5. Analyse performance of self and others and suggest improvements through target setting; 6. Examine a wider range of information sources effectively, recognising competing perspectives. |
