Brief Description | This module aims to provide students with the key knowledge and understanding to support their professional and legal responsibilities to children. |
Indicative Syllabus | This module will cover the following topics:
the legal knowledge and understanding required for work; Child Protection training to ensure students are competent and capable to safeguard children especially vulnerable children; First Aid training to ensure students are able to provide for the health and safety of the children with whom they are working; Common Assessment Framework (CAF) training to ensure students are working as a key part of delivering early frontline services that are integrated and focused around the needs of children and young people. Certification for each training experience is awarded where a student has attended 100%. |
Learning Outcomes | A student passing this module should be able to:...
1. Demonstrate and articulate a deeper knowledge of their legal responsibilities and duties in relation to current legislation; 2. Evidence a deeper knowledge and understanding about child protection and supporting the most vulnerable children, including policies and procedures within settings; 3. Demonstrate clear skills in First Aid to ensure that they can assist in situations within the workplace, understanding the difference between risk and hazard management; 4. Evidence a deeper knowledge and understanding about CAF to ensure they can support appropriate assessments of children in need; 5. Demonstrate the ability to deal with complex situations involving children, parents and carers, and other agencies; 6. Demonstrate enhanced professional attributes such as confidentiality, ethical practice, respect and honesty. |
