Brief Description | The module provides an introduction to the issue of crime in society, and explores the socio-cultural context of crime and criminality in the UK and globally. |
Indicative Syllabus | 1) The social construction of crime and criminality; |
Learning Outcomes | i. Knowledge and Understanding On completion of the module students should be able to demonstrate:1) An understanding of the socio-cultural context of crime and criminality in relation to class, age, gender, race, ethnicity and place; 2) A critical awareness of the representation and social construction of crime and criminality; 3) Knowledge of a range of theoretical perspectives in relation to crime; 4) An understanding of national and global issues relating to crime. ii.
