Brief Description | This module aims to equip students with knowledge of software/IT project management. It will start with the software/IT project life cycle and methodology, then move onto the various management issues such as users, suppliers and development team management, stage management, document/communication management, configuration management, change/risk management, quality review/control and contract management etc. Throughout the whole module, real software/IT projects undertaken by the Department will be used as case studies to provide students with a chance to touch on practical project issues. There are two sessions specially designed to present some examples of typical system application management such as ERP and Prince 2 |

Learning Outcomes | On successful completion of this module, students should be able to: 1. Fully understand and independently apply the general principle of software/IT project management to applications 2. Undertake independent evaluation of standard methodology for project management as a team member 3. Apply the learnt theory to practical project management situations in complex and unpredictable situations 4. Comprehensively analyse and manage development processes/stages, quality control, and documentation/communication etc 5. Critically appreciate the principles of system application management Demonstrate, through critical analysis of practical IT projects, the application of a methodology for software/IT project management |
