Brief Description | This module aims to teach the fundamentals of user centred design and human-computer interaction through standard internet technology through the investigation of web-based usability issues and the application of appropriate metrics. Students will utilise current internet technologies (XHTML; CSS; Javascript) to develop interactive interfaces which reflect the specific nature of User-Centred Design in regard to these technologies. |
Indicative Syllabus | The emphasis throughout will be on interface design quality and usability taking into account user interface guidelines, academic international standards and accessibility guidelines. General introduction to the Internet and World-Wide Web, and attendant technologies for developing interactive web sites and web pages. Emphasis will be placed upon Interface Design, HCI and Web Usability principles and their relevance to the application of current internet technologies, culminating in the effective use of usability metrics and subsequent evaluation studies. |
