Brief Description

The cornerstone of all human resource (HR) management activity is the employment relationship – as a legal, social, economic and psychological exchange. This module will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of employment relations perspectives and debates and provide students with an understanding of the different outcomes on the management of employee relations and its interface with engagement. The module provides opportunities to critically apply the, knowledge required for managing employment relations practices in union and non-union work organisations and the structures and processes required to manage the employment relationship effectively. Crucial to the delivery of superior organisational performance is the extent to which the employees of an organisation feel involved, committed and engaged and as such this module critically explores the different dimensions of employee engagement, both as rhetoric and reality.
