Brief Description | This module aims to give students an understanding of Business Intelligence requirements and enable them to develop and manage corporate Business Intelligence systems. The module will introduce the skills and theory needed to transform an organisation’s data into actionable knowledge. |
Indicative Syllabus | Business Intelligence is a major priority for modern companies. Business Intelligence is the use of information technologies for gathering, storing, analysing and providing access to data to help business managers make better decisions and formulate their business strategies. This module looks at the use of Business Intelligence, as well as its tools, techniques and principles. The focus is on providing students with the skills and knowledge to enable them to suggest, model, develop, implement and manage effective Business Intelligence solutions. Students will gain experience in the latest enterprise decision support tools and knowledge management development tools, as well as investigate current theories and trends in Business Intelligence provision. Topics will include: business intelligence concepts; the business intelligence environment; data mining; analysis and modelling techniques; data warehousing; information integration; and business rules approaches to development. |
